NRTG Auditions
CURRENT Call For Auditions

The Niagara Regional Theatre Guild will hold auditions for the first two productions of the 2013-2014 season, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Forum" and the musical version of "Little Women" on Monday and Tuesday, June 10th and 11th at The Ellicott Creek Playhouse, 530 Ellicott Creek Rd., Tonawanda.   Auditions will begin at 7:00 p.m. Those auditioning should prepare a vocal selection of your choice; an accompanist will be provided. "...Forum" will run in September/October 2013, and "Little Women" will run in November 2013.

Typically, auditions for Fall productions will be held in August, and auditions for Winter and Spring productions will be held in December or January.  Visit this website often to watch for details of upcoming audition notices.
But don't forget -- while auditions are held only a few times each year, you can always volunteer to help out at anytime.  See our Helping Out page to find out about volunteer opportunities.
Casting Decisions
All of those who are offered roles will be contacted by phone soon after auditions are completed.
  General Audition Info
Auditions for Niagara Regional Theatre Guild (NRTG) productions are held several times throughout the year, on weekday evenings.  These are open calls—no appointment is necessary.  Usually, auditions for two shows are held at the same time, with everyone invited to audition for both productions if they wish.  Performers of all levels, beginner to professional, are welcome.
Call-backs are most often held later the same week, usually within 3 days of the initial audition.  Many roles are often cast without callbacks, so not being asked to return for the second round of auditions does not mean that you will not get a part.
Those trying-out for musical productions should bring sheet music for a single audition song.  It is not necessary that it be a song from the show.  An accompanist will be provided.  Candidates for all shows will be asked to do cold readings from the script.  NRTG does not require you to prepare a monologue. Sheet Music
Unless otherwise specified, auditions are held at:
The Ellicott Creek Playhouse

530 Ellicott Creek Road, Tonawanda NY.

Directions to the Theatre
Watch this page for updated information.  Specific dates and times are posted here as soon as they are available, well in advance of audition dates.  The week before auditions, announcements will also be posted in the Buffalo News ("Behind the Scenes" in Friday's Gusto magazine), the Niagara Gazette, and in ArtVoice.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals for the each show will usually begin immediately after the show is cast.  This generally means within a week or two after auditions.  When two shows hold auditions at the same time, rehearsals for the later show will not begin until after the first has opened.
Our standard rehearsal schedule begins 5—6 weeks before opening, working Monday through Thursday evenings, 7 pm—10 pm (though in the early weeks not everyone is called for every rehearsal).  We pride ourselves on our family-friendly rehearsal schedule, with no Friday or weekend rehearsals until the week before opening.
The week before the show opens will always include a Friday evening rehearsal.  Be prepared, as well, to work all day (approx. 11 am—6 pm) on the Sunday before opening, for load-in and either a run-through or technical rehearsal.
Membership
All cast and crew are expected to be members of NRTG in good standing.  This represents a minimal annual committment, and shows a committment on your part to the organization.  Consult the Membership page for details.
Crew Hours
All cast members are required to put in some crew hours, helping with sets, props, costumes, and publicity.  Work parties are scheduled once rehearsals have begun and take place on the weekends leading up to the show.  Crew time is enthusiastically served in our multipurpose home at the Ellicott Creek Playhouse.
